Iowa Foreclosure Activity Increases in AugustForeclosure filings — default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions — were reported on 630 Iowa properties in August, a 5 percent increase from the previous month but a 13 percent decrease from August 2009, according to the latest RealtyTrac® U.S. Foreclosure Market Report. “Iowa foreclosures were up slightly in August,” said James j. Saccacio, chief executive officer of RealtyTrac. “The largest increase was in auction notices, which climbed 37 percent for the month. While the state’s unemployment rate remains well below the national average, it has continued to hover around its peak for months now.
